Tom Bishop is a Florida native, born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. He served in the Navy after graduating from high school and then attended Florida Atlantic University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Shortly after, he began working for The Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Company, which has its headquarters in Gainesville. There, he learned the inside of the insurance business.

In 1981, he moved to Boca Raton and became a licensed, independent insurance agent with the same company in Delray Beach. He sold all lines of insurance there; auto, homeowner's, worker's compensation, disability, business, farm, life and health insurance. He was an agent with them until 2009, when he decided to branch out on his own and opened a Brightway Insurance Agency which offers many more options to its customers and is a growing company. He felt this was a good fit for him with his over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Mr. Bishop is married and has four children. His son, David, a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University and member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, joined the insurance agency after graduation.
